How To Revamp Your Poolside Patio
As summertime inches closer, my focus turns to the outdoors and the spaces we create within it. Our front porches and back patios start to act as an extension of our house, and they become new “rooms” to decorate and enjoy. My personal favorite is the poolside patio, where groupings of tables and chairs call out for endless lounging and snacking with good friends and lots of sun. Here are my tips and favorites when revamping or rethinking your poolside patio!
Lights
Of course the first thing most of us consider when wanting to add lights to an outdoor space is “twinkly” lights or globe lights. They are trustworthy and always execute a dreamy look, which is why we love them! However my latest obsession for outdoor lights are the Rechargeable LED Lamps from fatboy. They are hassle free, portable, cordless and suitable for indoor and outdoor use. They are designed to withstand pressure from rain or sprayed water, which make them the perfect glowy addition to your poolside patio.

Fringe Umbrellas
A great way to vamp up your poolside patio is by upgrading your umbrella to something that is both chic and functional. My favorite way to do that is with a fun pattern or unique design like this one from Business & Pleasure Co. I am obsessed with the fringe detail that adds a retro feeling to the overall aesthetic, it's timeless in a Hollywood sort of way! The one pictured below is a larger size, but you can also find smaller umbrellas by the same company on Anthropologie. Use smaller ones to scatter around the poolside, or above each lounge chair to provide ample shade for all your guests. The best part of these umbrellas is that they are removable to wash or replace when necessary, and have both UV and water protective treatment to ensure you have a fabulous look for summer seasons to come!

Outdoor Rugs
Another easy way to instantly add both flair and sophistication to an outdoor space is by adding a rug. It will immediately allow yourself and guests to feel like there is a comfortable room outside, ready to use and enjoy. West Elm has a few amazing outdoor rugs to choose from that are highly durable and made from weather-resistant materials which also means it's super easy to clean. Just hose it down, and let it dry! These specific rugs are sustainably made from fibers that have been crafted from plastic water bottles, an amazing execution of recycling and reusing!

Metal Dishware
For those of you looking to host outside using your poolside patio, this Handcrafted White Enamel Serveware Collection from Potterybarn is perfect for you. It’s both lightweight and durable, offering the benefits that plastic cups would, but is more sustainable in both its design and function…also it just looks better! This collection includes a Party Bucket, Serving Tray, Footed Bowl, Flatware Caddy, Tiered Stand, and Cake Stand, ensuring that you will be the ultimate host this summer. Equip yourself with a set like this and you’ll be spending more time on your pool deck than in your dining room this summer. Ideal if you ask me!

Poolside Friendly Plants
It’s important to also make your poolside patio plant-focused, to provide both shade and greenery to the overall atmosphere. A few of my favorites to note are Agave, Areca Palms, Bird of Paradise, and Schefflera. All of these are good to have around your pool because they either provide a fun artful shape, a pop of color, or a nice amount of shade! They also are all plants that have a certain root system that won’t cause problems with the foundation around the pool. You will want to shy away from plants that have aggressive root systems and find plants that also won’t shed pollen or leaves into your pool to keep clean up simple and easy.
