Weathering Life’s Storms and Growing Upward

I have these palm trees that I see from my bedroom every day. They’ve been a quiet yet powerful reminder to me, especially in this season of my life. It got me thinking... there are so many symbolic meanings tied to these amazing trees. A few that have deeply resonated with me lately: they are strong, they can weather the biggest storms, and they always grow upwards. They represent freedom, righteousness, reward, and even resurrection—just to name a few.

In many ways, I feel like those palm trees mirror what I’m walking through. Their resilience and upward growth inspire me to keep moving forward, no matter how fierce the storm may feel.

Over the past few months, I’ve taken time away from social media because, truthfully, it wasn’t good for my soul. I’ve had to block and delete more people and comments than I can count. Trolls are cowards, and unfortunately, some "Christians" are anything but kind, gracious, or loving. But I refuse to let their negativity define me or hold me back. Like the palm trees, I’m committed to growing upwards and becoming stronger through it all.

This season has been a season of learning—a deep dive into my own heart and my faith. I’ve learned more about myself than ever before. I’ve felt the kindness of God in ways I never imagined, and His grace, forgiveness, and strength have carried me through. I’ve found true friendships—the kind that stand by you in the darkest valleys just as they do on the mountaintops.

I won’t forget those who abandoned us when things got hard, but I choose not to let bitterness take root in my heart. Instead, I remain deeply thankful for the ones who stayed, the ones who loved us through it all, and the ones who reminded me of the power of unconditional love.

ONE THING A DEAR FRIEND SHARED WITH ME DURING THIS TIME REALLY STUCK WITH ME:

“I would rather be accused of being too gracious toward someone than be accused of judging someone too harshly."

That perspective has challenged me and shaped the way I want to move forward. I want to be a woman who sees the good in people, who extends grace even when it’s not deserved, and who loves others unconditionally.

Storms will come, but like those palm trees, we can weather them. We can remain rooted in God’s truth, continue growing upward, and embrace the freedom and strength He offers.

As I look at those palm trees each morning, I’m reminded that the journey of life is not about perfection but about growth—choosing to rise above the noise, letting go of what weighs us down, and finding the beauty in the process.
